If cycling is your thing and you are ready to adventure on 2 wheels, making Morton House your base makes perfect sense.  The popularity of Masham and the area with cyclists has increased massively over the last five years. This is mainly due to cyclists being able to follow some the route that the Grand Depart used in 2014 where the cyclists rode through Reeth, Leyburn, East Witton and then into Masham, they then headed out toward West Tanfield and Ripon finishing the stage in Harrogate.

In more recent years the Tour De Yorkshire has come through Masham as well, the weather was brilliant, and the festival atmosphere was electric. Local brewery Black Sheep were one of the supporters of the event and it proved to be a very successful event.  Here’s hoping the route comes back through Masham again! With our knowledge of the area we can offer practical help when planning your cycling routes.
